FAMILY HOME CHILD CARE SOCIETY
Children need quality, reliable day care in order to thrive and grow as individuals. The early years are the most crucial because children are growing and developing at the most phenomenal rate than at any other time in their lives. They require consistency in order to feel secure which can be provided by quality home day care. Providers and their homes are inspected and approved by the agency and they are required to provide a nurturing environment to the children in their care.
The goals of the Society are to provide a safe, nurturing environment to all children from all different backgrounds and abilities. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable, stimulating, fun, environment in provider homes in the child’s own community with a semi-structured day plan. Activities will include free play, some structured playtime, outdoor large motor playtime, small motor skills activities, story time, arts and crafts, music and dance, and other learning fun activities. Providers will provide each child nutritious meals and snacks; encourage good hygiene skills, and manners.
We do not believe in pushing a child to learn at an accelerated rate nor will we make a child feel pressured to achieve. We will provide an atmosphere where the child feels safe and is having fun, exploring their own interests and developing at their own appropriate pace. The selection and matching of families and their children with care providers’ best suited to their needs, small groups of children, ongoing training and consultation for caregivers from the Agency staff regarding any aspect of the program, special activities, trusting relationships, and professional support from home visitors are all important elements of the program
The mission of the Family Home Child Care Society, Pictou County is to provide accessible, affordable, quality child care which would create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment within a home setting conducive to the developmental needs of children from ages six weeks to twelve years.
Please visit the "Forms" page if you would like to become a caregiver.
