Subsidy means that parents do not pay full fee for their space; how much subsidy they receive depends on their income. Quality Matter (QM), is a province-wide assessment program that will be used to determine eligibility for funding for licensed child care centers.
It is based on evidence-based research regarding the importance of quality early childhood education experiences for children and informed by international practices to support quality improvements in licensed child care centers.
A key component of implementing Quality Matters is finding ways to work in partnership with families. Collaboration with families provides an opportunity to strengthen our relationships and communication methods with families to build effective partnerships. If we involve families and communication that is open and honest, the quality improvement process will be affirming for all and have a positive impact on the quality of care and children’s learning experiences and outcomes.
Thank you in advance for helping us with Quality Matters. If you would like more information on Quality Matters please visit :
https://www.ednet.ns.ca/earlyyears/providers/QualityMatters.shtml for a series of videos explaining Quality Matters program as well as PDF documents of the Quality Matters booklets.
